The death last week of Albert Hofmann, the discoverer of LSD, brings several flashbacks to mind.

Albert Hofmann, the father of LSD, lived long enough to see his drug brought back into the lab to study as a therapeutic agent.

Mr. Hofmann synthesized LSD in 1938 but did not discover its psychopharmacological effects until five years later, when he accidentally ingested the substance.
